The Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC) recently formed a partnership with the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Free to Play Program with the common goal of providing financial support for children and youth to participate in music, the arts, Sports and other recreational activities.
“It’s estimated that close to 5,000 children in Guelph and Wellington are living in low income households,” said Karyn Kirkwood, program coordinator for the Free to Play Program. “In 2014, the Children’s Foundation was able to help fund 1,454 activities for 1,018 children. But we recognize there is still work to do to ensure that all children have access to the opportunity to participate in the activity of their choice. By partnering with organizations such as the GYMC, we are able to stretch our resources to meet the growing demand.”
