In 2017, with support from the Ontario150 Partnership Project, the Guelph Arts Council (GAC)and the University of Guelph School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM) completed the first two sessions of the Guelph Young Artist Mentorship Project.
The project is a collaboration that supports young artists in the critical transition from university to professional life. In continuing the project, GAC and SOFAM are grateful for support from the RBC Emerging Artists Project, which helps artists bridge the gap from emerging to established, and supports organizations that provide the best opportunity to advance their career trajectory. Applications for the winter round of the project, which begins this month, are now being accepted.
Guelph visual and media artists, musicians and cultural managers are encouraged to apply as mentors or young artists. Established artists may apply online as mentors, and young artists may apply online to be mentored.
Project and eligibility details are included in the online application forms. The deadline for applications is Jan. 21. Through the first two rounds of the project, 21 young artists, musicians, and cultural managers were mentored by established creative professionals from the community.
