In August 2007, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care announced province-wide funding of $700-million (over three years) for its Aging At Home strategy.
The Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN) received $37-million.
The goal of the WWLHIN Aging At Home strategy is to provide a suite of services for seniors to enable them to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible, in a safe home of their choice.
A ‘Request for Ideas’ process was launched late in 2007 and 88 submissions from local organizations was received by the WWLHIN.
Proposals were ranked against specific criteria and evaluated by the WWLHIN review team.
After review, 25 business cases were requested for detailed evaluation.
The WWLHIN review team has now completed its evaluation of the business cases. The Aging At Home portfolio of projects, a current investment of over $20-million, is being presented to the WWLHIN board of directors for their review and approval at their board meeting on Feb. 28 at 7pm at the Cutten Club (Trophy Room), 190 College Avenue East, Guelph.
Meetings are open to all.
