The annual writer’s festival here will benefit from federal funding in 2015.
Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Michael Chong announced on April 17 that $12,000 in federal money will be provided to help support the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF).
The fund provides Canadians with access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities. CAPF provides financial assistance to organizations that professionally present arts festivals or performing arts series, as well as their support organizations.
“For almost three decades, the Eden Mills Writer’s Festival has been bringing the best of Canadian literature to beautiful, bucolic Wellington County,” Chong said.
“The federal government has been supporting the festival for years, and this year, once again, is providing a grant to support this festival of Canadian writers.”
Festival chair Susan Ratcliffe said, “The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival is grateful for the support of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
“The Festival has been bringing the best of Canadian literature to book lovers of all ages in a relaxed and inviting natural environment for 27 years. This support will help us to present stimulating, thought-provoking and entertaining programming both in Eden Mills and in the surrounding communities.”
Every September, the festival showcases Canada’s literary talent through a series of workshops and author readings.
The 27th annual Eden Mills Writers Festival will take place Sept. 11 to 13. The festival regularly features around 40 Canadian authors, as well as at least one international author.
