NEUSDAT – WOWSA, the Women of Wellington Saugeen Area recently announced the expansion of its women in business network.
Officials say the network aims “to further inspire, empower and connect women in business and professionals in the County of Wellington and Saugeen River region in Ontario.”
WOWSA was established in September 2009 by eight women from Minto and Wellington North who came together believing that there was a place for a business network that supported women who run their own businesses or are working professionals. Since that time, the network continued to grow and includes Hanover, West Grey and Mapleton.
Furthering collaborative relations, WOWSA recently became an initiative of Saugeen Connects to expand opportunities to support and connect women in business.
With this amalgamation, the network has further grown into the municipal areas of Arran-Elderslie, South Bruce and Brockton, working alongside the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation.
The mission of Saugeen Connects is to collaborate and positively impact area economic growth, support youth retention, workforce development, and support growth and retention of businesses.
Saugeen Connects is also responsible for supporting the Saugeen Student Start UP Program (SSUP).
WOWSA was expected to kick off its 13th season at Harley’s Pub and Perk in Mildmay on June 14 with a welcome back networking event
