The theme for the September meeting of the Alma W.I. was agriculture. Convenors Helen Moffat and Thelma Bosomworth organized a trip to the Wellington County Green Legacy tree farm.
It is a labour-intensive program with two full-time employees and many volunteers. It provides a learning opportunity for over 5,000 students per year.
Manager Rob Johnson showed the Little Heritage House, which is also part of the Green Legacy property.
Roll call was answered by naming your favorite tree. We car-pooled from Alma to enjoy lunch in Guelph before our tour.
President Lenora Arbuckle conducted a short business meeting. Eight members will be attending the Guelph Area Convention Oct. 16 in Fergus.
A donation was made to a volunteer who will be going to Haiti.
Our next meeting will be a barn tour in Mapleton. New at the Alma Hall on Oct. 23 at 2pm.
