The upcoming Elora Women’s Film Festival will be held on April 23 from 11:30am to 4pm at the Gorge Cinema in Elora.
Admission will be $15 for two movies.
The Elora Women’s Film Society was formed in 2015 by two Elora film enthusiasts.
The goal is to bring films for, by and about women to local audiences.
This year’s film selections were inspired by the experiences of women – both Canadian and international.
The films provide diverse female voices through stories and creations.
Sweet Dreams, directed by Lisa and Rob Fruchtman, tells the story of Ingoma Nshya, Rwanda’s first and only all women’s drumming troupe. Made up of women from both sides of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, the troupe offers a place of support, healing and reconciliation, officials say.
Filmmaker Alberta Nye of Spirit Valley Pictures will share her film making experiences, between features.
The Company of Strangers directed by Cynthia Scott tells the story of eight elderly women who are stranded when their bus breaks down in the wilderness.
