Woman spat on officer during arrest

GUELPH – A Guelph woman faces charges after she spat on a Guelph Police officer while being arrested.

At about 11:35pm on Sept. 22, police were called to an address on Ontario Street after the resident reported a female known to him had smashed a window during an argument.

“Investigation revealed the female is on a release order with a condition not to attend the address,” police stated in a press release. “Officers located the female at her residence a short time later and placed her under arrest. While an officer was attempting to read her rights the female was confrontational and spat on the officer.”

A 35-year-old Guelph woman is charged with mischief under $5,000, assaulting police and failing to comply with a release order. She was to appear in bail court Tuesday.
