Everus Communications is still working on its restructuring plan.
The wireless internet provider has run into various difficulties since the summer. Some investors pulled back from the company, and then on Sept. 12, Everus was hit by vandals who knocked over its communications tower near Parker on County Road 7 and left 3,000 people without service.
Company spokesman Richard Cantin said last week that the company is still working on its restructuring plan, and he added he sees some hope for the future.
Wellington County is holding a provincial government grant worth $1-million to help set up wireless internet service in the county, and it earlier this year named Everus as its service provider.
After the company ran into financial difficulties at the end of July, the county agreed to give Everus until November to restructure itself.
Warden Joanne Ross-Zuj said that was a fair way to deal with Everus, and that county council would make a decision about proceeding with it in November when it hears the company’s restructuring proposal.
