CENTRE WELLINGTON – As more and more local businesses continue to open, the township is encouraging local residents to support local businesses.
That is why #SupportLocalCW continues to grow – and now there is even more incentive to shop local – with a contest.
The #SupportLocalCW contest is simple. Shop at a local establishment, take your picture outside the store holding your purchase and post it on the SupportLocalCW Facebook page.
There will be two winners of $50 gift cards weekly. The contest began July 13, on Facebook. The Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora donated $500 for the contest.
“We are so fortunate to have unique and amazing small businesses in Centre Wellington,” said Mayor Kelly Linton. “Now is the time to shop local and support these businesses. It’s a win-win. You are supporting a local business, and get a chance to win a $50 gift card.”
There’s been a change in downtown Fergus.
St. Andrew St. will re-open to vehicular traffic on Saturdays, but through a partnership with the Fergus BIA, Provost Lane will remain closed for the remainder of the summer and an innovative street patio will be set up so that downtown Fergus visitors can grab take-out and enjoy an outdoor dining experience on Provost Lane.
In April, the Township and the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce partnered to launch www.shoplocalcw.ca a website that gives consumers the ability to go online purchase gift cards, then redeem those gift cards at a later time.
The site is still going strong and residents are encouraged to continue shopping online on this site, to support local businesses.
