Students at JD Hogarth Public School in Fergus produced a show called The Grunch, that was staged Feb. 28 and March 1. Approximately 60 students were involved, ranging from actors to sound system operators and backstage and prop support. It was so well received that James McQueen PS asked that the group come and perform the musical for their students on March 7. Inspired by The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, The Grunch tells the story of Rudy Grunch, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an outsider. When the entire school gets excited about the annual school musical, he comes up with a perfect plan to ruin it for everyone. He’ll steal the sets, costumes and lights the night before it opens. But will the spirit of theatre prevail?
