County councillor and Police Services Board chairman Lynda White told council here on March 31 to expect the annual OPP report that week.
It was delivered in the March 25 Wellington Advertiser.
White said the report contained “a lot of good information.”
The report is particularly pleasing because Inspector Scott Smith has been visiting area municipalities with the good News that violent crime had been dropping.
Councillor Lou Maieron told White that there are some problems in his municipality that he hopes can be corrected soon. He added he is pleased Erin is “the second safest community in Ontario.”
Maieron admitted the crimes are not serious, but said merchants and residents are seeing a lot more petty vandalism. He called the problem “low level nuisance.”
He said, “I would like police to be a little more diligent in these small crimes,” he said, adding, “I know there’s a police presence there.”
