Wellington Terrace Volunteer Services offers a wide variety of opportunities for individuals and students in Wellington County.
Some of the areas that are in need of volunteer help include: VIP, the Volunteers in Partnership Newsletter,
Volunteers help residents maintain as active, independent and high quality of life as possible by augmenting and complementing services provided by the staff of the home through a wide range of volunteer initiatives.
Wellington Terrace is always looking for new volunteers.
Some of the positions include:
– dining room assistant, nutrition cart, and palliative visits in nursing
– mending and sorting in environmental.
Customer service volunteer opportunities refer to programs that are offered to all residents of Wellington Terrace throughout the week. Those programs combine residents from each home neighbourhood, and support individual and special interests shared though out our resident population.
The Terrace offers a wide variety of activities and programs for residents. Seasonal activities allow residents to experience activities based upon seasonal accessibility and their interests. Those include bike riders, campus cart guide, garden, and swimming companion
Student volunteering
Wellington Terrace provides several opportunities for students to volunteer, from a variety of disciplines and educational facilities.
Those are available for high school and post secondary students. Students are supervised by staff, who have qualifications in the same or similar area of training as the student, and who have some supervisory experience or training.
Wellington Terrace is committed to the support of education, learning and development and its staff endeavours to accommodate students to the best of its ability. The decision to accept a student is influenced by a number of factors and may include; the availability of appropriate supervision, ability to meet the students individual placement needs etc. To ensure optimum success for the student and Wellington Terrace, staff consider all factors when making placement decisions.
There are benefits for students, too. Placements offer:
– gaining transferable skills;
– practical work experience;
-experience and reference for future jobs; and
– learning about a career.
