Help – The Wellington Pregnancy Care Centre celebrated its fifth anniversary recently with a fundraising dinner and live auction at the GrandWay Events Centre, raising over $28,000 for its work of providing emotional support and practical supplies to women in Wellington County during and after pregnancy.
Keynote speaker Dr. Laura Lewis, executive director of Pregnancy Care Canada, reminded the audience that kindness never goes out of style.
“Pregnancy care centre workers are ambassadors who willingly meet clients, engage in the crisis of their lives and give them an opportunity to pause, take a breath and work through their circumstances,” she said.
In 2021 pregnancy centres from coast to coast have assisted over 31,000 clients. The Wellington Pregnancy Care Centre, housed in the basement of the Community Living Building on 280 St. Patrick St. W. in Fergus, started in 2017 with options-support during pregnancy, programs and free supplies for mothers and children up to three years of age.
