WELLINGTON NORTH – A local man has been charged in connection with a number of sexual assaults that took place here over a four-year period.
Wellington County OPP officials say police started an investigation into the assaults at the beginning of May.
“Investigation revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted on several occasions between January 2017 and April 2021,” police stated in a May 20 press release.
“The accused and victim were known to each other.”
A 41-year-old Wellington North resident was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
“Victims of sexual assault are not alone,” police stated in a press release.

The information will remain anonymous and confidential, police add, noting anyone in an immediate crisis can dial 9-1-1.
