Wellington North council approved $7,500 in community improvement grants for three projects on June 5.
Council previously approved $11,400 in community grants to six projects at the May 23 meeting.
A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) report from economic development officer Dale Small listed the three projects which received funding. Under the façade improvement grant program, two business received a one-time grant:
– Mount Forest and District Chamber of Commerce, $2,500; and
– Sacred Heart Church in Kenilworth, $2,500.
Under the public arts grant program, Sacred Heart Church also received $2,500 to assist with the purchase of new outdoor signage.
Council approved $15,000 in funding for the CIP 2017.
In his report, Small said the overrun of $3,901 will be accommodated within the economic development 2017 operating budget.
The total dollar value of the overall improvements made to the main streets in Arthur, Kenilworth and Mount Forest is estimated to be about $377,000, stated Small in his report.
