MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington North Farmers’ Market will open here on June 20.
The market, now in its seventh year, is moving to Saturday mornings (8:30am to noon) until Sept. 26, in the parking lot at the Victory Community Centre in Mount Forest.
Officials explained the market is opening with public health approval and will adhere to physical distancing and other health protocols such as hand washing and sanitizing stations, and patrons are encouraged to wear a mask.
“A farmers’ market is a good opportunity for the community to connect,” stated market manager Pastor Harry Engel in a June 3 press release.
“It allows us to buy from and support our local farmers and producers, thus contributing to our local economy.
“We are pleased to give our residents and visitors the opportunity to experience agriculture close up.”
Officials say vendors will be properly distanced and “enter here” and “exit here” markers will be well displayed and strictly enforced.
“The Wellington North Farmers’ Market is once again being brought to you by the collaboration and support of participating vendors, the Township of Wellington North, Wellington North Cultural Roundtable, Mount Forest Victory Church, MARCC Apparel, Forest Physiotherapy, and Taste Real,” states the press release.
Organizers also thanked Engel for continuing on in his role of market manager.
Interested vendors are asked to contact Dale Small at Wellington North. Applications can be found at www.simplyexplore.ca.
