Wellington North councillors look forward to future

Wellington North councillors new and incumbent are looking forward to the next term of council.

At Monday’s inaugural council session, councillor Dan Yake said  “It’s certainly an important day in our history and our future. I hope that I can bring some history and some experience to the council table which we can use moving forward.”

He agreed with earlier comments made by Mayor Ray Tout that there is a lot to look forward to. “I think we’re going to have a great team and a great term.”

Councillor Sherry Burke too, looked forward to working with members of the new council and mayor.

“Dan, I’m sure I’m going to be leaning on you a lot. We’ll be working together on a number of standing committees.”

“I hope I can deliver on the promises and commitments that I made, that got me into this chair from the constituents of ward 2.

Councillor Mark Goetz agreed that “We have a strong team working here.”

Andy Lennox quipped, “I’m led to believe this is the largest crowd we will have in the council chamber – under normal circumstances – so welcome everyone.”

“In terms of what I would like to look forward to in the next four years, I look forward to working with council and staff to build on the strengths that we have in Wellington North.”

He also wants to see the day to day services that generally people believe are excellently delivered, “and continue to build on that strength.”

“I’m looking forward to four years of trying to serve the needs of the public, and making this council a success.”
