MAPLETON – The Wellington County Soil and Crop annual meeting is set for Dec. 6 with registration from 9 to 9:30am, at the Alma Bible Church.
The meeting includes an early bird draw is seed valued at $200 sponsored by Snobelen Farms, a roast beef lunch at noon for $50 and various speakers.
Land Improvement Contractors of Ontario executive director Mel Luymes will be speaking on farm drainage and water quality.
A crop innovation specialist, Ian McDonald, will be speaking on no-till farming methods.
The third speaker will be Peter VanderZaag who is scheduled to speak on soil health in Canada, China and the Philippines. VanderZaag is a potato farmer from Alliston and associated with Sunrise Potato systems.
