Wellington County Soil and Crop annual meeting returns

MAPLETON – The Wellington County Soil and Crop annual meeting is set for Dec. 6 with registration from 9 to 9:30am at the Alma Bible Church.

The meeting includes an early bird draw which is seed valued at $200 sponsored by Snobelen Farms, a roast beef lunch at noon for $50 and various speakers.

Land Improvement Contractors of Ontario executive director Mel Luymes will be speaking on farm drainage and water quality.

Crop innovation specialist Ian McDonald, will be speaking on no-till farming and what it looks like. 

The third speaker will be Peter VanderZaag who is scheduled to speak on soil health in Canada, China and the Philippines. 

VanderZaag is a potato farmer from Alliston and associated with Sunrise Potato systems.
