Wellington County museum to open two new exhibits

The Wellington County Museum and Archives will be hosting an opening reception on Sept. 16 from 1 to 3pm for two new art exhibits;

Mentor and Metalsmith: The Silver Art of Arthur Brecken and Wesley Harris; and

Now and Then: Two Generations of Landscape Artists.

The joint opening reception is an opportunity to drop in and meet the artists.

Mentor and Metalsmith: The Silver Art of Arthur Brecken and Wesley Harris is a coast-to-coast travelling exhibit showcasing the skill of two Erin silversmiths: Wesley Harris, an accomplished contemporary artist, and his teacher and mentor, Arthur Brecken.

On display are Brecken’s finest silver pieces and Harris’ tribute work directly inspired by his mentor.

Now and Then: Two Generations of Landscape Artists explores the work of two generations of Canadian landscape artists, separated by more than a hundred years.

Wellington County-born Carl Ahrens (1862-1936) and his good friend of international fame Homer Watson (1855-1936) share their love of Canadian landscape with their 21st century counterparts, Elora-based Barry McCarthy and former Harriston resident Tony Luciani.

Admission is by donation.
