WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local residents now have a chance to provide input into Wellington County’s new Roads Master Action Plan (RMAP).
The newly-launched plan will help map out improvements to the county’s transportation network, states a press release from county engineer Don Kudo.
The project study is called County Roads, Connecting Communities.
The release states the RMAP is guided by four key objectives:
- identify long-term county road network needs to support area growth;
- provide input into other county plans and studies that will help make decisions on how to pay for improvements to the county road network;
- identify and address concerns with county roads through rural and urban areas, including safety and speed; and
- identify opportunities to better connect the county to neighbouring municipalities and the broader region through an integrated transportation planning approach.
The study area includes all county roads within Wellington County, connecting the municipalities of Minto, Wellington North, Mapleton, Centre Wellington, Erin, Guelph-Eramosa and Puslinch.
Provincial roads and local roads which provide connections within these municipalities are not included as part of this study.
Members of the public will have a chance to comment and review study materials and plans.
Throughout the study, information and upcoming opportunities for public input will be available at the project website.
“Community engagement is critical to the success of [RMAP],” said county councillor Andy Lennox, chair of the road’s committee.
“By engaging, we can be certain that the RMAP is shaped by our community. Residents have an opportunity to participate in meaningful engagement.”
Initially the public can participate in the study through a mapping activity and survey hosted on the study website.
Participants will receive a $5 Ride Well Transit coupon code, plus the chance to win one of twenty $25 gas gift cards. The mapping activity and survey will close on Feb. 11.
