Wellington 4-H Sheep Club has first meeting

The Wellington County Sheep Club held its first meeting on April 3 at the Erin Masonic Hall.

We started with elections:  Brock Bartlett is our president, Wade Smith our vice president, Natalie Klein our secretary and Brooklyn Smith our press reporter.  After the elections, president Brock Bartlett opened our meeting with the 4-H pledge.

We discussed whether we  have our lamb project animal picked out and if so what breed?  Most had their project lambs either picked out or narrowed down.

For some of our new members, the leaders quizzed all of the members about the different body parts of a lamb. They explained the importance of having both short- and long-term goals.

We talked about our goals for this year both personally and with our project lambs.  Each member was asked that if there was a meeting topic they were interested in learning more about, to let the leaders know. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto. Our next meeting is scheduled for May 8, at 7pm at the Masonic Hall in Erin.

This meeting topic will be different breeds of sheep and their varied uses.

If you missed the first meeting, there’s still time to join. Meetings will be held in different locations throughout Wellington County. Achievement day will be at Fergus Fall Fair.
