After nearly a five year absence from Canadian concert stages, Grammy award winning jazz vocalist and pianist Diana Krall returns with her Quiet Nights tour, in celebration and in support of her new CD Quiet Nights, to be released in late March.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.
To fully showcase the arrangements of Claus Ogerman, on both Quiet Nights and Krall’s earlier works, she will be accompanied in concert by her usual sidemen Anthony Wilson (guitars), Jeff Hamilton (drums), John Clayton (bass), plus a 45 piece orchestra under the direction of conductor Alan Broadbent.
Influenced greatly by her tour performances in Brazil, Krall refers to her new work as “not coy like peel me a grape, but womanly.”
From Krall’s refreshing version of Where or When, to a soul-stirring rendition of You’re My Thrill the ten songs on Quiet Nights are disarming in their intimacy.
The show runs at 8pm at the Center in the Square. Tickets $99.50, 89.50 and 72.50 plus applicable service charges, venue and charity fees, and are available at the Centre in the Square box office, by phone at 519-578-1570, or 1-800-265-8977, or on line at www.centre-square.com.
