Council is holding off on a recommendation by recreation cooridinator Linda Spahr to install a liner rather than paint the Arthur pool.
In her letter to council, she noted there is $15,000 set aside in this year’s budget to paint the pool. She wrote, “Rather than paint the pool, we have decided to install a liner in 2010. We are requesting that council move $15,000 from the capital account to the reserve account for this purpose.”
Mayor Mike Broomhead asked for more explanation behind what council was being asked to do.
He said the liner was not in the 2009 budget to start with.
Broomhead said that it seemed what Spahr was actually asking for was to to put in a liner instead of painting it.
“What’s the price of the liner?”
Recreation chairman and councillor Bob Mason said he did not know.
Broomhead wanted more information before making a decision.
“I always remember when we went to the liner at the Mount Forest pool was when all our troubles began. Those troubles seemed to go on and on,” Broomhead said.
