Wayne Baker running as PPC candidate in Perth-Wellington

PERTH–WELLINGTON – The People’s Party of Canada has selected Wayne Baker to be its candidate in Perth–Wellington.

Baker had previously run for a council seat in North Wellington in 2018 but was not elected.

“The federal election revolves around macro issues, rather than micro issues,” Baker said in an interview with the Advertiser.

“My message is really simple: stop the tyranny, vote PPC.”

Baker was hypercritical of how the Trudeau government has performed since first coming into power six years ago.

“I’m scared of the trajectory Canada is on and I want to do whatever I can to change it,” Baker said.

“If you look at what Canada looked like in 2015 compared to now, we are way worse off as a country. Another four years of this would make things even worse.”

Baker said he believes the government has consistently overstepped since the beginning of the pandemic, going so far as saying that Canadians have been experiencing a dictatorial type of governing style from the Trudeau Liberals, rather than democratic governing.

“We’ve been traumatized as a nation since March of 2020, and police state tactics have been used,” he said.

Baker said rules and regulations put in place by the federal government around COVID-19 have been “overburdening.”

“There has been resistance to open dialogue, and ideas with regard to COVID-19. Laws are coming down that are limiting our ability to speak,” Baker said.

If elected, Baker said he sees himself as someone who will answer tough questions that others are unwilling to answer.

He also knows the campaign will be a sprint, with the election fast approaching.

“On the day the election was announced, my wife told me there was good news and bad news.

“The good news is the campaign ends in 36 days, and the bad news is the campaign ends in 36 days.”
