ARTHUR – The Watoto Children’s Choir is making its way to the Arthur Pentecostal Assembly (APA) on Jan. 24 as part of its 2024 Canadian Tour, “Better Days – There is Hope.”
The event will begin at 6:30pm and is free to anyone interested.
“We’re thrilled to host them,” said Cassandra Kerr.
The choir is a group of children from Uganda who tour internationally.
They visit several countries, including: Canada, USA, Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Uganda and the United Kingdom.
The children not only sing, but also dance and play instruments such as the drums.
Their tour raises money and awareness for the Watoto orphanages in Kampala, Uganda. A lot of this money is raised through the selling of their CDs and other merchandise they bring along.
Members of the church family at Arthur Pentecostal will also be hosting the children and their families, providing them lunch and dinner until they head off to the next location of their tour.
Lunch on Jan. 26
The Watoto event is not the only event Arthur Pentecostal is hosting that week – there will also be a soup and sandwich lunch on Jan. 26 from 11:30am to 1pm.
This is an event that APA holds often, always taking place the last Friday of the month. Each lunch event has different meals, the last one in November being spaghetti, garlic bread and caesar salad.
“Our [church] slogan is ‘gather, grow and serve,’” said Kerr.
“That’s why we do this, to gather, grow and serve.”
