The township’s costs for water and wastewater treatment services could climb by 8% – or possibly more – next year.
At its last meeting in October Mapleton council approved a new agreement with the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), which operates and manages the water and sewage systems in Drayton and Moorefield.
The agreement, for a one year period starting Jan. 1, includes estimated costs for 2010 of $156,523 – up 8.1% over the 2009 cost of $144,773.
Clerk Patty Sinnamon said the figures provided by OCWA are estimates only; the actual final cost for 2010 services could be higher or lower depending on the work required and possible problems during the year. Council approved the 2010 agreement.
