These enterprising ladies got together at Heritage River Retirement Residence in Elora to knit tweedlemuffs – knitted hand warmers with items attached to keep dementia patients’ hands active and busy. People with dementia often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied, so there are buttons, beads, ribbons, zippers and various textures attached both inside and outside, which provide a source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation. The knitters are waiting to determine who needs these muffs the most in Centre Wellington. They are, from left: Marj Humphrey, Pat Robinson, Joan MacGregor, receptionist Lee Holloran and Maureen Reid. Photo by Bill Longshaw
