As Ontario residents began to receive their 2008 War Amps address labels, they found enclosed a letter from the association’s chief executive officer Cliff Chadderton, noting the anniversary of what was called: The war to end all wars.
“Nov. 11 2008 is the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War, a war which, sadly and proudly, my family recalls due to service in Flanders of young men from both sides of my family,” Chadderton wrote.
“But there is another significant reason to mark the occasion,” he said. “I refer to the thousands of youngsters in our Child Amputee (CHAMP) program who have joined Operation Legacy, which was started by The War Amps to ensure that future generations will understand the importance of remembrance.”
Chadderton added, “It has been a wonderful privilege to see the manner in which youth have adopted our military heritage message, based on The War Amps seminars and internationally award-winning documentaries.”
