VON offered volunteer appreciation event Sept.14

On Sept. 14 local Victorian Order of Nurse’s (VON) staff hosted a dinner at the Wellington Museum and Archives to celebrate their volunteers and recognize the contribution they make to the community service programs that support seniors and adults living with physical disabilities in the community.

Volunteers from all programs gathered, shared a meal and joined in recognizing those volunteers who had reached milestones witt the organization.

Volunteers who have served for five, 10, 15 and 25 years were all celebrated.

The evening was also attended by Alyson Isles and Megan Macdonald, Miss Midwest 2017-18 and Ontario Little Miss Princess.

Isles  has chosen the VON as her charity of choice during her reign. She and Macdonald were on hand to hand out Volunteer Appreciation pins.

The VON offers the following programs in the Guelph and Wellington County region: Transportation, Meals on Wheels, SMART seniors exercise program, visiting Volunteers, Telephone Reassurance, Seniors Support Workers and the Mount Forest Adult Day Program.
