Volunteers honoured

Senator Rob Black, left, presents Senate 150 medals to, from left: Jack Benham of Damascus and Ethel McEwen and Ian Turner of Arthur. The ceremony was held Dec. 2 during a service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Arthur. The medal, created to mark the 150th anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate on Nov. 6, 1867, allows senators to honour Canadians who have made significant contributions in their communities. Benham was recognized for his work with the Grand River Conservation Authority and trails development. McEwen has been involved with The Door Youth Centre and helping with the Arthur SU Sportz Camp. Turner has worked on the trails and local murals.
