FERGUS – Violet and Ash Candle Co. is hosting a charitable vendor market called “V and A Gives Back” on the main floor of Ecclestone Financial on Oct. 14.
There will be 21 vendors, a food truck and a donation drop-off for the Kitchener-Waterloo branch of Mamas for Mamas.
Most vendors will be contributing a portion of their sales to Mamas for Mamas on the day of the event, and 50 per cent of the vendor fee will be going directly to the organization as well.
“It is going to be an amazing event for downtown Fergus,” said Violet and Ash Candle Co. owner Jailena Williamson in an email to the Advertiser.
The event begins at 10am and runs until 4pm. All donations will be accepted, but Mamas for Mamas is looking for clothes, baby gear, diapers, wipes and school snacks.
The event is an initiative to help and give back to a community that has supported the company’s growth for the last five years, Williamson said.
Williamson said she wanted to showcase other local businesses and bring an outdoor event to downtown Fergus.
“We are hoping that this event not only brings light to some of the amazing businesses in our surrounding communities, but also the organization itself. We are honoured to be able to host something like this and give back to a community that we are so grateful to be a part of,” said Williamson.
“I have been wanting to do a give back initiative for a while, but had to figure out what the right thing to do was,” she said.
Violet and Ash Candle Co. has worked with Mamas for Mamas “numerous times” with back-to-school donation drops and a clothing donation drive.
Williamson said there are plans to continue to work with them in the future.
