Victoria Park Seniors Centre to reopen Oct. 26

FERGUS – The Victoria Park Seniors Centre will reopen later this month with limited programming and reduced hours.

“Although our facility was closed abruptly due to COVID-19, I am very impressed at how our staff put in place many virtual opportunities for our seniors to keep in touch with us and one another throughout the pandemic,” said Mayor Kelly Linton in an Oct. 9 press release.

“From online fitness classes, seminars and even bingo, we managed to successfully connect with our seniors virtually.

“Now it is time to open our doors and provide safe in-person support for our seniors.”

The centre, located on Albert Street in Fergus, will reopen on Oct. 26 and operate Monday to Friday, from 10am to 3pm.

Registration is required for all programs to ensure compliance with capacity limits and physical distancing rules.

“We encourage members to register online early to avoid disappointment as programs will have limited capacity,” officials stated.

Online registration opens Oct. 20 at 10am at www.centrewellington.ca/seniorscentre.

Those unable to register online can call 519-846-9691 ext. 204 for assistance/information.

Seniors interested in attending fitness classes at the Fergus sportsplex must pay and pre-register prior to attending.

For those who wish to remain at home, the township is still offering virtual zoom sessions at www.connectcw.ca.
