Upcoming Ontario hiking conference in Guelph

2014 is the 40th year of Hike Ontario, an organization of 25 clubs that represent Ontario hikers.

The Guelph Hiking Trail Club is this year’s host of the annual Hike Ontario Summit.  

On Nov. 1, learn more about Ontario’s Waterfront Trail and the Grand River trails system. Workshops will also be held on various topics.

On Nov. 1 Katherine Wheatley will provide entertainment for the anniversary dinner.

The summit includes a free pub night (cash bar) on Oct. 31 and guided hikes on local trails Nov. 2. Locations include the Grand River at Elora, Starkey Hill, the Speed River Trail, and the Radial Line Trail.

The summit will be held at the Guelph Golf and Curling Club, 133 Woodlawn Road E, Oct. 31 to ­Nov. 2.

Cost is $26 for Saturday presentations, workshops and lunch. Saturday evening dinner and entertainment is $36.

Friday night pub (cash bar)and morning hikes are free.
