ELORA – The Elora and Salem Horticultural Society has some events planned in the next few months to kick off gardening season.
Centre Wellington’s 4th Annual Seedy Saturday will take place on March 21 from 10am to 1pm, at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. Attendees can swap, exchange and purchase seeds, learn more about preservation of genetic diversity, creation of new varieties, saving money and eating healthier.
They can also meet growers, gardening and seed company representatives, a variety of vendors, visit the ‘master gardener’ corner.
Attendees are asked to put saved seeds into paper envelopes, and label them clearly with the name of the seeds and colour.
The club will hold its monthly meeting on March 25 at 7:30pm at the Elora Public Library, 144 Geddes Street in the lower meeting room.
The speaker will be Randy Tumber, founder of Tumber & Associates, and an award winner for his natural approach to landscape design.
Its next monthly meeting is April 22 at 7:30pm at the Elora Public Library. The speaker is Joanna Baars from Arthur Greenhouses who will talk about growing annuals in a perennial garden.
On May 9 the club will hold its annual plant sale at the Elora Centre for the Arts on Mill Street East in Elora.
A diverse variety of local grown plants as well as compost will be available
