Together with town council, Riverbend Artists of Grand Valley will formally unveil its streetscape mural at 2pm on June 26 on the wall owned by The Grand River Chop House at the southwest corner of Main and Amaranth Streets.
The unique mural, which was conceived and spearheaded by Donna Pascoe, depicts both sides of Main Street in Grand Valley. Pascoe created the preliminary sketches and managed to solicit the plywood, paint and brushes necessary to the project.
Children from Grand Valley Public School laid in the background and various members of the Riverbend Artists group completed the mural over a period of several months at The Door, a drop-in centre operated by Highland Youth for Christ.
Local contractor Bruce Hostrawser, a member of the Grand Valley Economic Development Committee, volunteered to design and create the frame.
