Upper Grand District School Board students were hard at work this year learning about Indigenous art from artists and knowledge keepers.
The annual Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) student art show, Zoongeheshkwaad, is hosted at the Wellington County Museum and Archives and began April 25.
The third annual art show features work created by UGDSB students, inspired by Indigenous artists and knowledge keepers.
This year’s show will only feature artwork from schools across the UGDSB that had Indigenous artists or knowledge keepers working directly with students.
Artists and knowledge keepers that have worked with UGDSB students include, Elder Jan Sherman (Anishinaabe), Métis President Jennifer Parkinson and Métis Treasure Leslie Muma, artist Naomi Smith (Anishinaabe) and artist Nathalie Bertin (Métis).
Opening night of the event was April 25. Entertainment, vendors and light refreshments were available on opening night.
This event celebrates unique and beautiful art created by UGDSB students, and is open to the public. The art show will run until June 10.
