UGDSB shows #LocalLove in United Way campaign

GUELPH – The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is ready to show its #LocalLove.

On Oct. 22 the UGDSB kicked off its annual United Way fundraising campaign.

The board is a long time supporter of the campaign, which will run in schools and board offices until Nov. 22.

For more than 75 years, United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin has worked to meet the needs of the Upper Grand community.

United Way is directed by a board of volunteers, managed by committed staff and supported by thousands of donors.

Funds raised by United Way go to support many programs in the Wellington, Guelph and Dufferin communities.

The United Way campaign is 100 per cent local.

Every dollar that is collected during the United Way campaign goes to agencies right in the neighbourhoods – many of these agencies help support Upper Grand families and students.

This year, United Way will be donating funds to 73 programs at 51 community agencies.

Some of the organizations that the United Way helps support include Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Family and Children’s Services, Headwaters Communities in Action, Women in Crisis, local food banks, and many more.

The United Way and its network of funded agencies focus on key building blocks to create strong neighbourhoods and thriving communities: All That Kids Can Be, From Poverty to Possibility, and Strong Communities.

The stories of some of the lives that have been touched can be viewed on the United Way website.
