UGDSB acclaims Ralf Mesenbrink, Katherine Hauser as chair, vice chair

GUELPH – Trustee Ralf Mesenbrink and Katherine Hauser will continue to serve as Upper Grand District School Board’s chair and vice chair.

They were acclaimed to the positions during a school board meeting on Nov. 26.

Chair Mesenbrink

RALF MESENBRINK

Mesenbrink is trustee for wards two, three and four in Guelph, and this is his third time serving as chair. The position is for a one-year term.

“I’d like to thank my trustee colleagues for their support and confidence in both my leadership and in our ability to bring our voices together and make the best decisions for the system,” Mesenbrink stated in a press release.

“What is important is every student’s learning and wellbeing, striving for equity and sustainability, a strong staff and the publicly funded education system,” he stated.

During the Nov. 26 meeting, Mesenbrink described how well the trustees work together as a team, noting while they do not always agree, when they disagree they do so with respect.

Trustee Lynn Topping nominated Mesenbrink to continue as chair for another year.

Vice chair Hauser

KATHERINE HAUSER

Hauser is for the Township of Puslinch and for Guelph’s ward six, and this is her third time serving as vice chair.

Trustee Martha MacNeil nominated Hauser to continue as vice chair, “so she can continue doing the great work that she is doing.”

UGDSB director of education Peter Sovran congratulated Mesenbrink and Hauser.

“I look forward to continuing our collaboration,” he states in the release.
