Two people injured in crash involving paramedic response vehicle

MAPLETON – A paramedic response vehicle was involved in a three-vehicle crash here on Monday morning that left two people injured.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, on Wellington Road 8 at the intersection of Wellington Road 10 in Mapleton, on Sept. 9 around 10am.

“One of the involved vehicles was a Wellington County paramedic response vehicle,” stated a Wellington County OPP press release on Sept. 9.

“Two vehicle occupants were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

“One driver has been charged with an offence [under] the Highway Traffic Act.”

Asked for clarification, OPP spokesperson Constable Matthew Burton stated “the paramedic response vehicle was the victim in this occurrence, not the subject of the investigation.”

He added, “Another motorist involved in this collision was charged … Alcohol was not a factor.”
