GUELPH – City police had to deal with two separate bomb threats last week.
Sergeant Douglas Pflug reported that on Oct. 31 at about 8:40am, Guelph Police responded to a bomb threat at a bank on Wyndham Street North. They heard that a bank employee found a note stating that there was a bomb in the bank. Police contained the building and a canine officer and his dog were brought in to conduct a thorough search. The bank was cleared and no device was located.
Police are working with bank officials to continue the investigation.
That same day at about 7pm, police responded to a bomb threat at a school on Ptarmigan Drive Guelph. A custodian found a message scrawled in chalk on a classroom blackboard that stated there was a bomb in the school. Police contained the building and a canine officer and his dog were brought in to conduct a thorough search. The school was cleared and no device was located. Police are working with school officials to continue the investigation.
