Twirlers at international championships

From July 10 to 12, five members of the Superstars Baton Club competed at the 2015 Twirling Unlimited International Championships here.  

Approximately 365 athletes from Canada and the U.S. took part, with judges from Ontario, Indiana, Florida, New York, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The juvenile small dance team, “Conga” placed 2nd in the international team competition. Members include: Alyssa George, Hayleigh Homer, Skylar Irwin and Elsie Post.

Individual results

Alyssa George, 12, of Fergus, won 1st in open 2baton, 3rd in summertime model, and costume model and 4th in 3baton. She qualified in her preliminary solo to complete for the international solo title were she placed 6th overall.

Hayleigh Homer, 12, of Fergus placed 2nd in 2baton, 3rd in duet with partner, Skylar, 4th in basic march and 5th in costume model and solo.

Skylar Irwin, 13, of Arthur placed 3rd in duet with partner, Homer, and 8th in strut and 9th in 2baton.

Paige Johnston, 8, of Arthur, won 1st in summertime model, 2baton and solo and 3rd in costume model.  She was also 2nd in the beginner international pageant.

Elsie Post, 10, of Arthur, was 1st in solo, 2baton and costume model, 2nd in RT and strut.

She placed 5th in the international strut championships and 3rd in the international 2baton championships. She was also 3rd in the intermediate international pageant out of seven contestants.
