Turn your land into forest

MISSISSAUGA – With spring just a couple of months away, it’s time to book 2019 spring tree planting projects with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC).

Property owners can use available land, transitioning it into a beautiful and healthy forest.

CVC offers two programs for landowners with at least two acres of land – the Tree Seedling Program and the Potted Plants Program.

The Tree Seedling Program requires a minimum purchase of 1,500 seedlings and the Potted Plant Program requires a minimum purchase of 100 potted plants. Both programs offer direct subsidies for eligible properties for up to 90 per cent of the total cost of trees and planting.

CVC offers free site visits for landowners and can also discuss eligibility to reduce your property taxes through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program.

“Planting trees on your own can be a daunting and expensive task. With CVC’s help it can be more manageable and cheaper than you might think,” said Rod Krick, Manager, Terrestrial Restoration and Management.

“Our forestry experts do the work for you. We create a customized planting plan, deliver, and plant the trees. We also offer advice and forest management services to help you keep trees healthy as they grow into a beautiful forest.”

CVC has planted more than six million trees in thewatershed since it began its tree planting in 1954.

The planting programs help increase property value while also improving the quality of your property’s natural environment. Participating landowners may also be eligible for reductions on property taxes through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program.
