On Dec. 17 the Welcome In Drop-In Centre was presented with a $10,000 cheque by the Rotary Club of Guelph – Trillium.
The money was raised at the Guelph Ribfest in Riverside Park – the primary fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Guelph – Trillium.
The centre is a haven and a caring community for homeless persons, those suffering from mental illness, isolation and economic marginalization. The centre provides meals, friendship, support and guidance to hundred’s of Guelph and Wellington County’s neediest residents everyday.
The centre will be using the Trillium Rotary donation to fund transportation costs incurred by its clients for things like housing or job searches, getting to medical appointments, and getting back to homes outside Guelph. The centre is a non-profit group with no paid staff. It owes its success to the community of Guelph, and over 80 volunteers who provide a myriad of services.
Anyone wanting to volunteer or make a donation to the Welcome In Drop-In Centre, can just “drop-in” at 23 Gordon Street, or call 519-837-0080.
