Trees for Tots pickup expands to Aberfoyle and Rockwood

GUELPH – The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is expanding its Trees for Tots Christmas tree collection this year to Wellington County residents in Aberfoyle and Rockwood.

Trees for Tots began five years ago when Christmas tree curbside pick-up was discontinued.

For a minimum $10 donation to support the programs of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, participants can register for Trees for Tots.

On Jan. 11 volunteers will pick-up trees which will be chipped and returned to nature through local naturalization projects at Ignatius Jesuit Centre.

All funds raised go directly to help build brighter futures for the children in the local community, officials say, including:

– helping provide nourishing food for children who go to school hungry through Food and Friends;

– building vital skills and self-esteem by allowing kids to take part in sports, arts and life-skills training opportunities through Free to Grow; and

– helping students who have overcome adversity continue their education through Scholarships.

To participate in the Trees for Tots Christmas tree collection, register on the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington website: www.childrensfoundation.org/ways-to-help/events/trees-for-tots.

To participate trees must be at the curb by 8am on Jan. 11.
