In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Treasures of the County exhibit is showcasing hidden gems from the personal collections of Wellington County residents, as well as rarely seen objects from the Wellington County Museum’s vaults.
The exhibit will be on display from July 8 until Sept. 17.
“This exhibit is an exercise in participatory community curating, open to all cultural and heritage groups and institutions in our county,” said Wellington County Museum and Archives curator Sandu Sindile.
“The exhibit showcases a range of objects and archival materials from eight community groups. Additionally we reached out to three elected officials from all levels of government to participate and select an artifact from the museum’s collection.”
The public is invited to an opening reception on July 8 from 1:30 to 3:30pm at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, located on Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.
The galleries are open weekdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm and on weekends from 1 to 5pm.
Admission is by donation.
