Trail funds approved for Town of Minto

The Town of Minto will receive a total of $20,826 this year from the Wellington County Trail Funding Program for projects Palmerston and Clifford.

The program, approved in 2015, allows for matching funds up to $50,000 per municipality to be applied to one or more municipally-endorsed trail projects matched by the municipality or community groups. The program is slated to end on Nov. 30.

In 2015 and 2017, the county approved funding for Minto in the amounts of $7,171 and $22,002 respectively.

For 2018, the town requested the county to fund $20,826 or 50% of its trail expenditures for 2017.

Projects include:

– regrading and tree maintenance on the Clifford trail; and

– trail grooming, clearance of overhead canopies and encroachment of vegetation on the Palmerston trail.

County council approved the request at the March 29 meeting.

With these projects, the  Town of Minto will have fully utilized its $50,000 trail funding allocation.
