ELORA – The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is providing close to $700,000 in its latest payment to Centre Wellington for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.
The OLG announced the township’s fourth quarter (Jan. 1 to March 31) payment of $689,121 on April 19.
The instalment is close to its third-quarter payment of $717,647.
During OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023), Centre Wellington received $3,022,252 for hosting the site.
That is up significantly from $1,622,262 in 2021-22. However, revenues were impacted the previous fiscal year by periodic COVID-19 public health restrictions at Ontario gaming sites.
Since the Elora slots facility opened in 2003, the township has received $39,122,586 from the OLG.
Ontario finance minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said the payments “are building strong communities where people and families can enjoy a high quality of life.
“These revenues help support local program and critical infrastructure, making a real difference for gaming host municipalities.”
The OLG has committed to reinvest in the province 100 per cent of its profits.
