Township races shaping up as more candidates announcing intent

With the muni­cipal election only a few months away, there are now some races shap­ing up in Cen­tre Well­ington Township.

To date, though, only in­cum­bent Joanne Ross-Zuj has announced she is running for mayor.

There will be a change in Ward 1. Incumbent Shawn Watters has declared he will run for county council. Kelly Linton, of Elora, has announc­ed a run for the Centre Well­ington Ward 1 seat.

In Ward 2, incumbent Kirk McElwain is running again.

Newcomer Jeremy Vink is seeking the Ward 3 seat that is currently held by councillor Bob Foster.

Incumbent Fred Morris is running again in Ward 4.

The race heats up in Ward 5, where incumbent Walt Visser is facing two challenges. Those are from Vinnie Green and John Ortt.

The interest continues in Ward 6, where Mary Lloyd, Steve VanLeeuwen, and Mike Wisniewskie are seeking the seat currently held by coun­cillor Ron Hallman.

In the county Ward 4, Jim Heinbuch is challenging for the seat held by Lynda White, who has also filed to run again.

Jean Innes is seeking a second term in county Ward 5.

In county Ward 6, in­cum­bent Bob Wilson is facing a challenge from Watters.

In the Public School race, only trustee David Gohn has filed to run to date.
